The Red & Black has dual missions: to give students hands-on training in journalism and to serve the University of Georgia and Athens community as an independent, authoritative and engaging source of news and information.

About our journalism

We serve the University of Georgia and Athens as an independent news source. Our team of professional staff and student leaders train more than 200 young journalists each year, while providing coverage of campus and the community that surrounds it.
