Mission

Through the creation of the New Jersey Center for Investigative Reporting (NJCIR), we will work to empower residents through investigative journalism that sparks action, improves lives, changes policy, and protects our democracy by holding the powerful accountable and uncovering information that would otherwise remain hidden from the public. The center will work to reveal injustices and expose abuses of power and betrayals of the public trust using the moral force of investigative journalism to shine a light on government actions and spur reform through a sustained spotlight on wrongdoing and potential solutions in the state. Our non-partisan, non-profit news organization will work to serve the residents of the state by telling stories that would otherwise not be told about how government at the state, county, and local level, businesses, and other institutions function and spend taxpayers’ dollars.
