Pine Plains Local Journalism Project Mission Statement

The mission of the Pine Plains Local Journalism Project, Inc., is to publish a digital newspaper, the New Pine Plains Herald, to report on all aspects of life in and around the Town of Pine Plains in northern Dutchess County, N.Y. Our goal is to help citizens have a closer connection with the history and traditions of our rural community and to illuminate trends and changes affecting our community.

The New Pine Plains Herald serves as a reliable online source of local news and information that has been carefully researched and reported. We highlight events and developments in our town, cut through misinformation, stimulate thinking and informed action, and encourage honest and civil discourse on community matters.

The Pine Plains Local Journalism Project may also present lectures and workshops of an educational nature of relevance to the community. The organization will be guided by a volunteer board of directors and its projects, including the e-newspaper, will be guided by a team of volunteers and a professional staff as financing allows.
