Oviedo Community News’ mission is to create a better informed and connected community through independent, public-service journalism that focuses on issues that residents told us matter to them; and to inform people about important decisions that are being made locally in order to help them become more civically engaged and feel empowered to shape their community.

What makes OCN special is that we listen to our readers, asking them about their information needs and filling those gaps with fact-based reporting. Our public-service journalism helps people with everything from knowing about important decisions their elected leaders are making to providing nonpartisan voter guides to creating helpful, potentially lifesaving local disaster coverage. This is work that no one else is providing for our readers.
