Mission
FāVS News informs and builds faith and non-faith community through digital journalism and online and offline engagement opportunities.
About our journalism
FāVS News is the only digital newsroom in the country devoted exclusively to local religion news. Since 2012, we’ve covered faith, belief and spirituality across Washington and Idaho, reporting on how religion shapes our neighborhoods, politics, schools and public life.
Our journalism ranges from accountability reporting on powerful religious institutions to stories about congregations adapting to change, interfaith neighbors and communities often overlooked by mainstream media. We work with a network of nearly 30 freelance reporters and more than 35 columnists representing a wide range of traditions and viewpoints.
FāVS also operates as a regional wire service. Our stories are republished by 20 media partners, including The Spokesman-Review, Religion News Service, Northwest Public Broadcasting and the Washington State Standard, and our wire service earned an Associated Church Press Award of Excellence.
Readers tell us our reporting moves them to act: 71% have shared a FāVS story, and many say it led them to vote, attend events or support local causes.
