Mission

To strengthen civic life in Yonkers through independent journalism that informs the public, investigates institutions, amplifies the city’s many voices and helps residents better understand the community they share.

Yonkers is a fast-growing city of 210,000 on New York City’s northern edge, changing in ways some residents embrace and others resist. It deserves reporting that both holds local power to account and reflects the neighborhoods, schools, and community life that define the city’s collective identity.

We also seek to mentor emerging journalists and build a durable civic resource.
