Mission

The Central Valley Journalism Collaborative is a nonprofit newsroom established in 2021 to reignite high-quality journalism across California’s Central Valley. Our community-center journalism aims to serve as a watchdog on government and public institutions, lift up voices of the underserved, boost engagement with civic life, seek solutions and provide the trustworthy and important information people need to participate in a healthy democracy. The CVJC also partners with newsrooms across the Valley to collaborate on projects, enhance the distribution and impact of our coverage and rebuild the journalism ecosystem in an impoverished, majority Latino and multiracial region largely uncovered by legacy, for-profit newsrooms.
