Local News ... There's Nothing Else Like It

Our journalism provides local citizens in 18 communities in the Russian River watershed region of Northern California’s Wine Country the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives, their communities, their governments and their shared civic and cultural life. 25% of American newspapers have gone out of business. Others have been purchased by hedge fund investment firms. The Sonoma County Local News Initiative will not let this happen to The Healdsburg Tribune (founded 1865), Cloverdale Reveille (1879), Sonoma West Times & News (1889) or The Windsor Times (1987). We’ve seen the consequences of decisions made in the absence of the facts. Local journalism gives us trustworthy, balanced reporting in times of celebration and in times of crisis.

Our Commitment: We are nonprofit, nonpartisan and dedicated to public service. We are challenged and excited about the future of journalism. We will provide complete access to trusted, reliable, quality hyper-local news.

About our journalism

The four newspapers of SoCoNews have been serving western and northern Sonoma County for more than a hundred years. They are the critical friends of our communities—holding local government accountable; celebrating triumphs and mourning losses; chronicling the good times and civic achievements; providing vital information in times of crisis, and more. Our local news is skillfully researched and written by those who live here and care passionately about our community. We deliver by website, email newsletter, print, social media, phone, special section and town hall. We are Journalism for Tomorrow.
